Limited Time

A friend's father passed away about a week ago and since I'm didn't know what to do, I decided to come up with a comfort pack. 2 hours in a mall walking back and forth deciding, coming up with ideas and finally, I decided on an owl, tissue, chocolate & tea.

Just something simple and small...

A line up of 10th KL BB members paying their last respect with the blowing of the Last Post before the body was carried out for cremation.

Short sharing before cremation starts.

Saying our last words and prayers.

Something meaningful.

I can't do much but I hope that if ever you need anything, just remember that I am here.

Why I say NO to Zalora

Zalora is the hype of internet shopping now and everyone seems to be caught up with it. However, I have a different experience with them that I wish to record and share with everyone.

I received a RM30 voucher from Marche when I dine there with my family in July. And as usual, being a Malaysian, we set it aside until its almost too late. The voucher was only valid until the 15th of July and when I realized it (which was on July 15th), I quickly went into the website and started browsing. This was my first time using and I was pleasantly surprise with the varieties. I spotted a kaftan that I like and placed an order for it. It didn't get through. After a few tries, I decided not to proceed further. I know the voucher with expire at the stroke of midnight but thought that I will try my luck the next day.

Next morning, I called Zalora up and the girl who took my queries was very nice. I explained to her my predicament and when she said that the voucher can still be used, I proceeded with placing a phone order with her. Since I wasn't comfortable with giving payment details over the phone, she said she will email me the invoice, where I will have to make payment via Maybank2u. An hour later, she called me back asking if I have received the invoice. I told her no and after checking, we realized the email address she type in was wrong. She said she will email me again.

I waited. Nothing.

I decided to give them some time.

2 days later, I called up and guess what!!! No such record. They can't find my name or my email address or even my order. I wasn't very happy but decided to give it another try. I placed an order again and the guy who took my order said that he will check and get back to me. A couple of hours later, he called back, wanting to place my order but without luck. The item that I wanted was SOLD OUT!!! I was disappointed and NOT HAPPY! I really like that kaftan and I have been looking for the exact one for ages. The guy told me that the item will be restock and he will call me to let me know when the new stock came in. I agreed.

Guess what!! No news.

The beginning of August, I was in 1 Utama Shopping Complex and spotted the Zalora voucher at the Boost Kiosk. I decided to give it another try. I went home, browse the website for the kaftan and YES! it was there. However, the price have gone up about RM8+. I called up to check and another guy took my orders. I asked if the price can be reduced to the previous amount since it was their mistake that I didn't get to purchase the kaftan. I can't recall correctly but I think he took 1-2 days to call me back with the answer. And when he did, the answer was 'No'. Not one to argue over an extra RM8 for a kaftan that I really liked, I placed an order.

Guess what?? Its now end of August and no emails, no calls, nothing.

I still did not get my kaftan.

This is not my 1st time purchasing online. I have been doing it for the last couple of years and have my share of the good and bad sellers. Zalora takes the prize for one of the worst. For such a big and apparently established company, they should at least get their process and customer service right. They provide phone orders??? Pffttt... 3 strikes and Zalora, you are out.

p.s. ---> I know I have their banners all over my blog but I got no idea how to remove them.

Just the last photo is enough to give me goosebumps.

I wish I will have the opportunity to visit or experiences some of this least once in my life.

Fun with kids..

Last Saturday, we decided to do something different with the Year 1's Privates. We wanted something fun after a year of hard work. I planned something but as usual it didn't work out as planned. They didn't want to listen to instruction, they complained it was boring, stuff..

But I guess they did have fun. At least I think they did....

Gosh!!! Kids nowadays are so hard to please....

Operation Wedding Deco

How's your Raya break going? My family & I started our holiday with this...

We lasted 1 day without going bonkus - or at least some of us did.
Lot's more pictures but will only reveal them after the wedding. ;p

We turned our hall into a factory. My oldest sis said it looks like Willy Wonka factory. My youngest sis said it looks like Alice in Wonderland. Even my 2 old aunties came to lend a hand.

Operation Wedding Deco have just begun!!!

See ya in a couple of day :)

A Selamat Hari Raya to all my Malay readers & friends!

Ramadan Buffet Dinner @ The Quad, UCSI

Since Ramadan is ending and Hari Raya is almost here, its time I post up my one and only buka puasa buffet I had this year. *yay to good self-control*.

Anyway, a little bird fish told me that The Quad @ USCI was having a buka puasa buffet for only RM38!!! And since it's been quite some time since my first visit, I could not turn down the invitation. So one fine evening, a group of us brave the traffic jam and headed towards USCI for a good makan session.

The wait was kinda long as some VIPs were gracing us with their presence that day. And right after the call for break fast, I was the first one at the buffet line. I was so hungry, I could eat a horse!!!

That day, we had something extra - Lamb & Murtabak Ayam!! All graciously paid by the VIP as an additional to that night's menu. Yay!! The dishes were a mix of malay as well as western making it a fusion palate, with enough variety to keep things interesting.

Nasi Tomato. Nothing outstanding. Not much tomato-ish taste and kinda dry. The rice wasn't mixed very nicely so certain parts were left clump together. I'm not a clumpish-rice person. I like my rice in its tiny bits. So yeah, I give this a pass.

Penee with Cajun Chicken. Not sure of its origins but anything with pasta and chicken brings me back to comfort food. The penee should have been boiled longer to make the texture softer but the mix of chicken and with almond was something unique, unlike other cajun chicken dishes I had before. It feels more like an asian infused-style dish.

Lamb Chop with Mint Sauce. Pure, classic, roast lamb with mint sauce. Yummy, delish, finger-licking good! There were some parts which was kinda stubborn but most parts were soft and tasty enough to keep us going for 2nd and 3rd round.

Chilly Prawn. I've taken caution to eating seafood outside, considering them dirty as most restaurants do not wash them properly. However, for this prawns, I have to give it thumbs up! The size of the prawns are huge and its clean. No funny smell. The sauce was not spicy. It was very well marinated. Just imagine biting into the juicy flesh and tasting the sauce infused into the flesh.

Beef Lasagna. One of the best dish that night! Wholesome food - layer and layers of mouth-watering, best-tasting beef and oozing warm cheese. Eating this was just about enough to keep me satisfied the whole night. I'll definitely go back if they serve this again..

Tilapia in Thai Sauce. Not much to say. Fish was fresh. Sauce was OK.

Ayam Percik. Just 2 words. No explanation needed. Juciy, fleshy, tender meat marinated so well that the sauce just oozes out when you take a bit. Delicious beyond words! Best dish on the menu that night. It was so good that we had so many, many rounds. Chicken was cooked to perfection. Percik sauce was just as perfect. My mouth is watering just thinking about this again..

Tomato Soup & Bubur Pulut Hitam. Didn't try this but my friend who did said it was OK. Tasted normal.

*blurry cos of the stim rising up

There was actually another dish which I forgot to snap a picture. Murtabak Ayam. Since it was a specials, I expected it to be good. But truthfully it was disappointing. It was cold and dry and hard. And the cut was too big.

Assorted Fruits, Salad  & Cold dishes.  Good spread. Enough variety.

Fruit Tarts. The fruits on the tart was fresh and the pastry was still hard. I don't like fruit tarts when the fruits turn the pastry into a soggy, soft mess. And the cream that came with it was not too overpoweringly sweet.

Chocolate cake. The chocolate cake was moist enough and not too heavy. I especially like the mouse-like top part. Light, with enough flavour to to stand on its own.

The pulut soak with coconut milk and drizzled with gula Melacca was just the right thing to end that night on a sweet note. I like it this way :)

Drinks. We were served water and when I ask if there were any other choice, the waiter who served us said,"There is strawberry milkshake". Not one to turn a good milkshake down, I said yes. Guess what!!! I got my strawberry milkshake the Malaysian way - Bandung!!! ROFL!!! But he's a nice guy - he served me milk tea too without me even asking for it.

As the sun slowly sets and as I lean back against the chair, I would say that I'm truly satisfied. Again, some hits and misses but overall, a good job to the team @ The Quad. Even though it seems that they were short handled that day and there were only 2 person who were serving the floor but I had a pleasant experience. Thumbs up to the team who put in so much effort and staying back so late to clean up even after we have left..

p.s. According to the little fish again, buffet is still ongoing except that all the slots are fully reserved. Sorry for those who didn't get a chance. Maybe next time :)

Just a day Snorkling @ Perhentian Islands

A couple of months back, I was in Perhentian Island with a group of friends. The package that we took included an entire day of snorkling. So on the 2nd day, after we had rested from the long journey, we headed out into the sea.

Our 2 hunks for the trip - James & Sian Jeen

This is 'Schlow'. She dosen't know how to swim but was so brave in joining us.

Our 1st snorkling spot..

Fishy's feeding frenzy!!!

Our instructor for the day, Mich Foo, teaching us how to breath properly using the snorkel :)

And giving the 'push' needed to get in the water...

Mich Low was the 1st in. Scared, yet brave at the same time..

Next, were this 2 aunties - both past the prime of their age.

In the water they went, holding on tightly to their 'bodyguards aka saviour aka snorkling companion aka buoy'..

Uncle, Mich Foo, Aunty

Mich Low floating like she a pro... Says who you can't snorkel if you can't swim!!

An unidentifiable group picture... before I went into the water.

Moving to our next snorkling spot. Mich Foo & Uncle.

James the monkey, Sian Jeen aka Ah Jeen, yours truly & Mich Low

Happy faces :)

I love this. A shot of Mich Foo & James at the Fishing Village we stopped for lunch.

After lunch, a new snorkling spot. The water here was smooth & calm. Lots of tiny fishes, deep waters and a handful of coral reefs.

Our Sea Boy... tall, tan and all ready!!

Doing a back fall into the an experience diver!!!

Mich Low floating again...

Happy snorkling!!

Another group picture...

Our final spot for the day.... paradise on earth!!! When the boat was approaching this island, I spotted aqua blue super clear water, white sandy beaches, jungle and blue sky... and I thought to myself, 'I could so live here'.. Like a scene out of Castaway. If only there are fresh water...

... which there is. Our boat man took a few of us on  a short walk into the forest to a tiny spring. Yay!!! Rockstar, time to retire :)

James working out a pose....

Another group picture

Both the Michelles - Mich Foo & Mich Low...

Mich Foo doing her best imitation of a dive... Ouch!!!

And then the expert decided to show off :)

Ah Jeen tanning himself... Yup, just his face...

Another shot of Mich Foo & James... Yeah, I know .. Such nice pictures right? I don't even have a shot of myself except some camwhore shots which I shall not show cos you can only see my zit-up-face and none of the beautiful background. *fails

James & Mich doing some couplely stuff - James throwing Mich up. #don'taskme

Me and Mich Low legs. Check out my 'beautiful' white toes... Need to tan my toes soon. Just my toes.

Ah Jeen in action... Tall, tan... and erm... tanner..

As the sun sets, it was time to leave. We pack our gears and got ready to leave our little paradise..

Watch out everyone!!! James' driving us back....

Goodbye, beautiful place and memories. Tho our time was little but it was so beautiful!! We'll meet again, somehow...

p.s. All pictures were taken by me using Sony SteadyShot DSC-W310, except the ones that have my face in them. Please refrain from using them without getting prior permission from me.
